Scandalous news struck the MLB this afternoon as cheating allegations came out involving the Houston Astros. Veteran pitcher Mike Fiers alleged that Houston used a center-field camera to help steal signs during the 2017 season.

Video has been released that appears to show Houston decoding signs and relaying them to its hitters during games. As you'd expect, it's not sitting very well with baseball fans.

Now that cheating allegations are out, the Astros have released a statement regarding these claims.

"Regarding the story posted by The Athletic earlier today, the Houston Astros organization has begun an investigation in cooperation with Major League Baseball. It would not be appropriate to comment further on this matter at this time.”

Fiers made it sound like Houston had zero intentions of slowing down when it came to stealing signs, telling The Athletic, "they were advanced and willing to go above and beyond to win."

If the MLB finds these allegations to be true, the Astros could be dealt a harsh punishment.

Stealing signs has been around baseball for generations, but it's usually done organically. The fact that Houston is using technology is something new that Major League Baseball is going to have to deal with.

Although the MLB didn't comment on this upcoming investigation, the league cannot be thrilled about this development.
