Derek Jeter Refused To Wear Cowboy Hat Last Night: 'New Yorkers Don't Wear These'
The MLB on Fox crew got into the Texas spirit on Friday night as the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers continued to face off in the ALCS.
Before Friday's game, David Ortiz surprised the crew with cowboy hats. Kevin Burkhardt, Alex Rodriguez and Ortiz all put on the hats, but Derek Jeter refused.
"New Yorkers don't wear these," Jeter said with a smile.
Ortiz is usually the member of the crew that keeps the energy going, and he did in this case, engaging with Rodriguez and Burkhardt after they put on the hats.
Jeter continued to smile and laugh with his colleagues, but refused to put on the hat.
As the series goes on, Jeter may feel differently with each game taking place in Texas.
The Astros lead the ALCS 3-2 after a dramatic come-from-behind win on Friday.
Jose Altuve hit a go-ahead home run in the ninth inning to complete the comeback and put the Astros one game away from their third straight World Series appearance.
The Astros are looking to become the first team to win back-to-back World Series since the Yankees won three in a row from 1998-2000.
Jeter was a part of those Yankees teams along with a few other New York legends, so his refusal to put on the hat could have everything to do with the Astros potentially becoming baseball's next great dynasty.
