The Los Angeles Angels were big buyers at the MLB trade deadline, and at the time it made a lot of sense. They wanted to be aggressive in a contract year for the best player in baseball, Shohei Ohtani.

The Angels made several deals to bolster their roster at the deadline in an effort to make the postseason, and perhaps more importantly to keep Ohtani on the roster.

One month later, the Angels have had the worst record in baseball since the deadline, they're all but out of the playoff race and Ohtani is injured.

Things have gone about as poorly as they could go, and on Tuesday, the Angels waved the proverbial white flag.

According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Angels are waiving multiple players they acquired at the deadline including Hunter Renfroe, Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez and Randal Grichuk.

The baseball world is laughing at the Angels on Tuesday.

"This organization is so sad and pathetic," one fan said.

"Even more comical is the fact that Renfroe and Grichuk were in the lineup for tonight and we just watched them take batting practice a half hour ago," another fan said.

"THE ANGELS NEVER FAIL TO MAKE ME LAUGH LMFAO THIS TEAM IS SUCH A JOKE," another fan said.

"This might be the single worst trade deadline by any team in MLB History oh my god LMAO," one fan said.

The Angels now face an extremely difficult situation this offseason, as Ohtani will now be free to sign with any team on the open market and they've depleted their farm system for players they rented for a month.
