Former MLB Pitcher Dies In Car Accident At 35

A former Major League Baseball pitcher has tragically died in a car accident at 35 years old.

Hector Gomez reported on Sunday that former MLB pitcher Roberto Gomez, 35, was killed in a car accident. Roberto Gomez played for the San Francisco Giants from 2017-18. He recorded one win and 17 strikeouts over two seasons with the NL West franchise.

Tragically, the right-handed relief pitcher was killed in a car accident on Sunday.

"Former San Francisco Giants pitcher Roberto Gomez, 35, died due to a traffic accident in Santiago, DR," Hector Gomez reported on Sunday afternoon.

Roberto Gomez was initially a part of the Tampa Bay Rays organization. He made his professional debut in 2010 and was with the American League East franchise until his release in 2014. 

The right-handed pitcher signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants in 2016.

Gomez made his Major League debut in September of 2017 and ended up making nine appearances over two years. He signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2019, but ended up getting released due to medical concerns.
