MLB Fans Are Speculating About Blockbuster Juan Soto Trade
The MLB offseason isn't here yet, but Padres slugger Juan Soto is already being mentioned in potential trade packages.
According to MLB insider Jim Bowden, the Red Sox, Yankees, Mariners, Giants and Guardians could all be players in the Soto sweepstakes.
Bowden also offered a hypothetical trade package from the Red Sox. He believes Boston would need to offer a combination of Alex Verdugo, Tanner Houck, Miguel Bleis and Luis Perales.
Red Sox fans would be more than OK with the front office making his blockbuster deal. The rest of the MLB world, however, is skeptical about this possibility.
"This is a deal I would do for Soto if you are planning on extending him and making him the big splash move you make… but I would not do the trade McAdams suggested of Meyer, Anthony, and Bello," a Red Sox fan said.
Another fan commented, "I’d do this trade in a split second. Would hurt to lose Perales but if the front office spends on pitching then screw it."
"I doubt that would be the trade but I would drive all 4 of them to logan airport myself," a third fan wrote.
Soto has one year left on his deal with the Padres. He finished the 2023 season with a .275 batting average, 35 home runs and 109 RBI.
Do you think the Padres will trade Soto this winter?
