Legendary MLB Star Claims Donald Trump Is Keeping Him Out Of Hall Of Fame

Apparently, voting for Donald Trump will keep you out of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

On Wednesday afternoon, longtime MLB pitcher Tommy John made an appearance on "The Michael Kay Show." Unsurprisingly, the four-time All-Star was asked why he's not making the Hall of Fame. His response to the question was a bit odd.

Instead of point to certain statistics that may have kept him out of the Hall of Fame, John blamed it on his political views.

"Maybe because I voted for Donald Trump," John replied. "Probably. I don’t know. I have no idea. If I knew and I could do something, I would do it. But I can’t."

There was a little bit of awkward silence after John made that initial comment on Michael Kay's show. They were probably trying to figure out if he was being truthful.

John played in the MLB from 1963-1989, suiting up for a plethora of teams, such as the Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees.

From a production standpoint, John has the stats to be in the Hall of Fame. He has a career 3.34 ERA with 288 wins and 2,245 strikeouts. Some fans would argue that he only has great numbers because he was in the league for so long.

For what it's worth, John has never received more than 31.7 percent of the votes for election. You need 75 percent of the votes in order to make the Hall of Fame.

It's safe to say John's political views haven't kept him out of Cooperstown.
