Dallas Cowboys Running Back Darren McFadden Out 2 Months With Broken Elbow

The Cowboys' running back depth took a hit over Memorial Day weekend.

Jason Garrett told reporters today that Dallas running back Darren McFadden cracked his elbow during a family accident at home over the holiday.

McFadden, 28, underwent surgery on the elbow this morning. An X-ray revealed the injury; McFadden practiced all last week not knowing the extent of it.

The Cowboys' depth at the position is still strong, with No. 4 overall pick Ezekiel Elliott (the expected starter) and Alfred Morris, among others.

McFadden totaled 1,089 yards and three touchdowns last season.

Dallas is currently in mandatory minicamp and opens training camp in late July.
