Brooks Koepka is underway in his first round at the PGA Championship and, unsurprisingly, the three-time major champion (and defending PGA Championship winner) is playing extremely well.
Koepka, 29, is -2 through four holes and tied for the lead at Bethpage Black in New York.
The three-time major champion actually thinks it’s easier to win majors than other tournaments.
“There’s 156 [players] in the field, so you figure at least 80 of them I’m just going to beat,” Koepka said this week. “You figure about half of them won’t play well from there, so you’re down to about maybe 35. And then from 35, some of them just – pressure is going to get to them. It only leaves you with a few more, and you’ve just got to beat those guys.”
It’s tough to argue with that right now.
Koepka could be on track for another win this weekend at the PGA Championship. He’s certainly off to a good start.
Jena Sims, the girlfriend of the three-time major champion, is enjoying her time in New York this week.
Koepka and Sims have been dating for more than a year and are quite used to celebrating major tournament wins.
