Michigan Claims It Was Audio Distortion, Not Alcohol, That Slurred President's Halftime Speech (VIDEO)

Hmm.

The only thing more painful than watching Michigan's performance on the field this past Saturday was witnessing its President, Mary Sue Coleman, slur her halftime speech. The video (shown below) has gone viral, as both students and fans in the stands immediately assumed Coleman had been under the influence of alcohol. But according to the school, they were having "audio distortion" issues. Per The Michigan Daily:

In a statement to the Daily early Monday, the University acknowledged the “awkward audio” but said it was due to “significant feedback” from Michigan Stadium’s PA system.

“She, absolutely, had not been drinking alcohol,” University spokesman Rick Fitzgerald wrote in a statement. “I want to underscore that point in the strongest possible way.”

Here's the video, in case you haven't seen it yet:

Sounds like some serious audio issues. We'll let you be the judge here.
