The 2018 Major League Baseball season kicks off tomorrow.
When the Kansas City Royals take the field, they'll have to do so without one of their star players.
Five-time All-Star Salvador Perez suffered a torn MCL and will be out for 4-6 weeks. Royals manager Ned Yost revealed Perez suffered a Grade 2 MCL tear earlier this week after slipping on the stairs while carrying his luggage.
The freak accident occurred in his home.
It's a huge blow to the Royals, who will be without one of their stars for at least a month.
Perez is a five-time All-Star and a four-time Gold Glove award-winner.
The Venezuelan native was the 2015 World Series MVP when the Royals took down the New York Mets in five games.
