The wife and child of Tampa Bay Rays minor league pitcher Blake Bivens were among three people killed, according to a report from MLB insider Jeff Passan.

A report from a local ABC affiliate reveals the alleged suspect is the brother of Bivens' wife.

Two women, later identified as Bivens' wife and mother-in-law, and a child were found dead in the Virginia home.

A neighbor reportedly found one person dead in the driveway and then found another adult and the child dead inside the home.

Here's more from the report:

Police say when they arrived at the home, they found a woman dead in the driveway of the residence. When police entered the home, they found another woman and a child dead.

At approximately 12:15 PM this date Matthew Bernard ran from a wooded area and law enforcement were able to get Bernard into custody, police said.

The alleged suspect ran from police and attacked a church groundskeeper by putting his hands around his neck. Police later subdued the suspect and identified him as the brother of one of the victims.

Bernard was arrested on three counts of first-degree murder.

Bivens is a pitcher for the Montgomery Biscuits. The team cancelled today's doubleheader in the wake of the news.
