Former Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz has remained out of the public eye since he suffered gunshot wounds while at a bar in the Dominican Republic earlier this summer.

The former slugger was shot on June 9 and spent several weeks in the hospital recovering from his injuries. When he eventually returned home, Ortiz did not post any photos of himself.

However, one life event was too much to shy away from.

He dropped his daughter, Alex, off at the Berklee College of Music this week. He couldn't help but post a photo with her and write a heartwarming caption to go along with it.

"A life experience take place on us dropping off one of my kids at college..... good luck with everything and remember “ to be great you have to bring the best out of you everyday” love you....mom & dad!!!" Ortiz wrote on Instagram.

The Boston legend reportedly was not the intended target of the shooting. However, after he was shot in the back, he spent nearly two weeks in the hospital.

He announced in late July that he returned home and he even shared a photo grilling in the back yard.

It's good to see Big Papi is recovering well.
