David Ortiz is currently at Massachusetts General Hospital as he continues to recover from a gunshot wound he received over the weekend in the Dominican Republic.

Ortiz underwent surgery in Santo Domingo on Sunday night to repair significant internal damage after being shot. After being stabilized, he was transferred by plane to Mass General.

Once there, he underwent a second surgery and was said to be "resting comfortably" as of yesterday. The latest update from Ortiz's wife Tiffany is even more encouraging.

The former Boston Red Sox slugger was apparently able to sit up and take a few steps this morning. He will remain in ICU for the time being but continues to make progress.

It is great to hear this considering how serious Ortiz's injuries were. He was shot in what appears to be an assassination attempt.

Hopefully he continues to make a speedy (and full) recovery.

Everyone is pulling for "Big Papi."
