The lone run in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 1-0 win over the San Francisco Giants this afternoon came on a first inning home run off the bat of Max Muncy. After making contact, Muncy admired his shot, which landed in the water outside the ballpark in right field.
Giants starter Madison Bumgarner did not like how Muncy acted after he hit the ball. As Muncy began his home run trot, Bumgarner began jawing at him.
Muncy jawed back, and after the game, he told reporters what was the nature of the exchange.
Muncy: “Bumgarner said ‘don’t watch the ball, run’, and I just told him if he doesn’t want me to watch the ball, go get it out of the ocean.”

Gotta admit, that is a pretty great response from Muncy.
Baseball is a tough sport. We’re all for some guys showing off here and there when they do something impressive.
This wasn’t even a large display of showmanship by Muncy. We’ve seen much more flamboyance from players.
Today, he certainly got the last laugh against Bumgarner. Muncy’s final stat line: 1-for-2, a walk and the game-winning bomb.
