MLB analyst Eduardo Perez gave a very emotional remembrance of Jose Fernandez Sunday morning.
Sunday morning, the sporting world awakened to heartbreaking news that Marlins star pitcher Jose Fernandez passed away in a boating accident. Following his death, many people from around the baseball community have shared their prayers and remembrances of Fernandez.
None was more emotional or powerful than Eduardo Perez's tribute, which he gave during a SportsCenter broadcast.
Perez went on to speak about Fernandez's impact on the Latino community in Miami and across the country. He also recounted the fun Fernandez displayed while playing the game. Perez was the Marlins hitting coach for two seasons while Fernandez was there.
Perez is a resident of Miami, and his father is Hall of Fame baseball player Tony Perez, who like Fernandez left Cuba to play baseball in the United States. Fernandez was like a member of the Perez family, as the young pitcher frequented the Perez household to play dominos with Perez's parents.
Fernandez was just 24 years old.
