Justin Verlander Rips Reporter For Telling Kate Upton To "Pipe Down"

Justin Verlander was not having it when a reporter told his fiancee, Kate Upton, to "pipe down."

Kate Upton recently made headlines when she roasted the Baseball Writers Association of America. The BWAA voted on the AL Cy Young just a few days ago, and two writers left Verlander off of their ballots, costing him the Cy Young.

Upton was less than pleased, as evidenced by her Twitter rant. But when one reporter told Upton to "pipe down," Verlander had none of it, and responded accordingly. The reporter in question is the New York Daily News’ Mark Feinsand.

Verlander ended up second in the voting, but received more first-place votes than winner Rick Porcello. In the final week of the season, after two writers submitted their ballot, Verlander pitched 14.2 innings and allowed just one run on 10 hits with 20 strikeouts.

That's the end of a season that wins you the Cy Young. That is, if writers don't submit their ballots early.
