Earlier this week the Tampa Bay Rays took down the Houston Astros to force Game 5 in the American League Divisional Series.
Astros ace Justin Verlander was less-than-stellar on three days rest and gave away an early lead to the Rays.
In the very first inning, Verlander gave up three runs. It all started with a home run from Tommy Pham. Travis d’Arnaud followed that up with a single that scored one run before Joey Wendle brought another run home with a double. In the end, Tampa Bay walked out with a 4-1 win.
Now, fellow Cy Young candidate Gerrit Cole takes the mound for the Astros tonight in a winner-take-all contest.
Before the game, Verlander’s wife, Kate Upton, posted a photo with a caption full of puns.
“It’s a Ver-y Cole world Upton here!,” Upton said in the post.
Upton is ready for Game 5 and the Astros lineup needs to be as well.
After a 2-0 start to the series, the Astros offense has fallen silent in the last two games. The Rays outscored the Astros 14-4 over the last two games of the series.
Cole will face off against fellow former Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Tyler Glasnow. First pitch is set for 7:07 p.m. ET.
