Manny Machado is in his final week as a member of the Baltimore Orioles. According to multiple reports, Machado will be traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday, barring a last-minute snag.
The Dodgers emerged as the favorite to land Machado earlier this week. The Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers were also in the conversation, but the Dodgers reportedly won out in the end.
What will the Orioles receive in exchange for Machado? According to Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic, the Dodgers will ship prospects only, not current players from the roster.
Here's the Rosenthal had to say.
The 26-year-old Machado is slashing .315/.387/.575 this season with 24 home runs and 65 RBI in 96 games. Tonight, he will play in his fourth All-Star game in six-plus seasons with the Orioles.
The Dodgers will likely slot Machado into the shortstop position vacated by Corey Seager, who has been out since April with Tommy John surgery.
