Last night, buzz was growing that Bryce Harper would officially sign with the Philadelphia Phillies this week. Several cryptic messages and possible television graphics went viral on Twitter about the All-Star outfielder leaving the Washington Nationals for a division rival.

With multiple marquee free agents still available, patience is running thin around the MLB.

Out of all players on the market waiting for a lucrative contract, Harper draws the most attention. His production and charisma can elevate any franchise from the moment he steps on the field.

Harper didn't have a terrific season by his standards in 2018, yet he still managed to finish with a .249 batting average, 34 home runs and 100 RBI.

Regardless of all the chatter surrounding the former MVP's looming decision, it sounds like he isn't ready to make his final decision.

According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the rumors of Harper signing with the Phillies today are mostly speculative.

This doesn't mean that Philadelphia won't land the biggest prize of the offseason, but it does prove that any talk about Harper definitely leaving the Nationals is premature.

Besides, other teams could decide to throw their name into the sweepstakes for one of the most talented players of this generation.

Although spring training is only a few weeks away from starting up, Harper will take his time before committing several years of his career to a franchise.
