Spring training has begun, and Bryce Harper is still unsigned. While it appears that the former NL MVP is close to finding a new home, things aren't finished yet.

A report from Jim Bowden on Saturday stated that Harper was close to signing with the Philadelphia Phillies. This morning, more rumors seemed to point to Philly, with Harper reportedly receiving a contract worth more than $300 million total.

However, MLB Network's Jon Heyman reported this evening that nothing is "done" regarding Harper. The Phillies appear to be "intensifying" their negotiations, but several other teams are still in the mix.

Those include the San Diego Padres, Washington Nationals, San Francisco Giants and Chicago White Sox, plus what Heyman refers to as "multiple mystery teams."

The Phillies indicated early in the offseason that they planned on making a big splash in free agency, spending "stupid money" in the process. They already acquired top-flight catcher J.T. Realmuto via trade.

Is Harper next? He would certainly swing the balance of power in the NL East if he is.

Philadelphia was a surprise team for much of last year before running out of gas down the stretch. They might become the division favorites if they land Harper.
