The Angels appear to have won the Ohtani sweepstakes.

Japanese baseball star Shohei Ohtani, the prize of this offseason, has agreed to sign with the Los Angeles Angels, per Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan. Ohtani, 23, plays both pitcher and outfielder and is also regraded as a excellent hitter.

The decision came as a surprise on Friday afternoon, as Ohtani was expected to make his decision over the weekend at the earliest.
