The Baltimore Orioles lost 115 games last season and that was before they began totally rebuilding. This year, they might be even worse.
Baltimore is in the process of trying to restock its farm system and build for the future. In the meantime, the present is very, very bleak.
The Orioles are in New York today for Opening Day against the Yankees. Let’s just say the two teams are fielding much different looking starting lineups.
In fact, search “orioles lineup” on Twitter and you are bound to come up with tweets like the ones below about the group of mostly unknowns that Baltimore is rolling out there.
Oh my. Do I have to endure an entire season of this lineup? I literally don’t know what 3 of the #Orioles starters even look like. It’s going to be a looong season. @MASNOriolez @DanClarkSports #openingday pic.twitter.com/l5UgNp0tZT

Orioles have the worst roster I have ever seen. Embarrassing for once proud organization.

So not only are there just two players from last year's Orioles' Opening Day lineup in this year's lineup (Davis and Mancini), but the other 7 are in other organizations. And three (Alvarez, Gentry and Joseph) aren't in the big leagues

This Orioles lineup is just … pathetic. Good grief.

The #Orioles open 2019 with two players set to make their Major League debuts (one, Richie Martin, in the starting lineup), eight who are new to the organization and 11 who are on Baltimore’s Opening Day roster for the first time.

"You know, Coney, I'm not sure the names on this Orioles lineup are real."
"We checked, Paulie. They're mostly real."
"I'll guess we'll see. But Rio Ruiz, I'm not buying it."

Some of these dudes sound like random generated names in a video game.
As you might expect, Baltimore is already down 4-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Yankees jumped out 3-0 in the bottom of the first after the Orioles’ top half of the inning ended when a batted ball hit a base runner for the third out.
It is going to be a long season in Birdland.
