The Major League Baseball trade deadline is fast approaching. By 4 p.m. ET, the trade deadline will have passed, and any ball clubs looking to add talent to their rosters will be out of luck.

Several big names have been mentioned as trade assets in the past few hours, including Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Chris Archer. The pitcher has always been viewed as a world class starter that is just a few tweaks away from becoming one of the best in the game.

A two-time All-Star, Archer could be on the move. Several teams are in the hunt, including the Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, and Milwaukee Brewers.

However there is an unlikely contender who is the favorite to land Archer. The Pittsburgh Pirates.

Although Archer has struggled this season, he remains one of the hottest commodities come the trade deadline. Pittsburgh needs added depth in the rotation, and have the assets in place to complete a trade with the Rays. Archer's contract is also team-friendly, meaning the small-market Pirates can afford to keep him on the roster longterm. Stay tuned for more MLB trades. UPDATE: The two sides appear to have come to a deal.

We'll update this with further trade details.
