Wednesday morning, a terrifying event unfolded at a GOP congressional baseball practice in Alexandria. The team was practicing for an annual charity game to be played Thursday night.

During the practice, a gunman later identified as James T. Hodgkinson, opened fire on the field.

Representative Steve Scalise was hit in the hip, and others were also injured during the shooting. According to a report from USA Today, two Capitol Hill police officers were also shot during the incident.

One of those police officers wounded during the incident, David Bailey, was at Nationals Park tonight to throw out the first pitch whilst on crutches.

Here's how the scene unfolded.

An incredible moment for Officer Bailey, and all those involved in the incident. The charity game pits Democrats versus Republicans and has been a yearly tradition since 1909.

Our thoughts are with Rep. Scalise and his family as he recovers.
