Just one day after losing 23-2 to the Houston Astros, the Baltimore Orioles pulled out a dramatic walk-off victory.
However, the win came after the O’s managed to sneak another inexplicable “highlight” into what has been a season of them. Leading 5-4 in the top of the ninth, Baltimore surrendered a three-run “Little League home run” to Houston outfielder Michael Brantley.
Here’s what happened.

By the broadcast angle, you can’t tell what happened in the right field corner that caused the ball to roll around for as long as it did.
This view captures Baltimore right fielder Anthony Santander’s embarrassing attempt at a relay throw.

Yup, it has been that kind of season for the Orioles. Santander’s mishap might top D.J. Stewart getting hit in the head with the ball while trying to make a diving catch, and that only happened four days ago.
Thankfully, there was some joy in Baltimore this afternoon. After Chris Davis’ sac fly made the score 7-6, Rio Ruiz sent the crowd home happy with a two-run walk-off.

Unfortunately, Baltimore won’t have long to celebrate its win today. The Orioles open up a series tomorrow against the New York Yankees, who pounded them last week and have done so all season.
