The wife of Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz has released a new update on the health status of her husband, who continues to recover from a gunshot wound.

Ortiz, 43, was shot in his native Dominican Republic on Sunday night. Police have revealed that Ortiz' shooting was an assassination attempt. Men were paid roughly $8K in USD to take out Ortiz at a bar/restaurant in Santo Domingo.

The alleged shooter has been taken into custody, though an investigation is ongoing.

“(Authorities) are making a great effort to apprehend these criminals and bring these criminals to justice,” prosecutor Jean Alain Rodríguez told reporters.

Ortiz' wife, Tiffany, released an update this afternoon.

The 10-time All-Star continues to recover in the ICU in Boston.

David and Tiffany were married in 2002. The couple has three children.

Our thoughts continue to be with their family as David recovers.
