Gus Kenworthy got in a shot at the vice president.

During the opening ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympics, U.S. Olympian Gus Kenworthy made headlines with a post on social media. Kenworthy posted a photo to Instagram showing he and fellow Olympian Adam Rippon together though the U.S. teams' introduction.

That's not where the headlines were made. Rather, Kenworthy raised eyebrows with the caption of the photo, which took aim at vice president Mike Pence.

Kenworthy, who is openly gay, stated he's proud to be representing the LGBTQ community. At the end of the post he took a not so subtle shot at Pence by saying, "Eat your heart out, Pence."

Just a few days later, Kenworthy mentioned Pence once again. The star U.S. skier broke his thumb during a practice, but found a silver lining from the injury.

"It won't stop me from competing (obvi) but it does prevent me from shaking Pence's hand so... Silver linings," he said. Check out his post on Twitter.

The injury shouldn't affect Kenworthy's performance at the Olympics. Kenworthy will compete in slopestyle this weekend. He won the silver medal in the event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

He's a medal favorite once again, and hopefully the injury won't bother him too much.
