On Tuesday afternoon, Alex Morgan led the United States Women’s National Team to victory with a header in the 31st minute of the game against England.
Meeting in the semifinal, the U.S. and England battled through what became a chippy contest.
In the end, the U.S. women were too tough for England.
Much of that toughness came from Morgan, who scored the go-ahead goal. England played physical with the star striker, knocking her to the ground on multiple occasions.
However, Morgan had an answer each and every time, leading the U.S. to yet another World Cup Final.
After the 2-1 win, Morgan had a message for fans everywhere.
“This team is special. Thanks for the bday love. Thanks for the rocking stadium. Thanks for continuing to believe with us. And that’s the tea,” she said.

“The tea” is in reference to Morgan’s celebration after scoring the go-ahead goal. She mimed drinking a cup of tea – a shot at the England team.
She received criticism for her celebration from a former England national team player.
In the end, the U.S. walked out with the win and a date with the winner of the Sweden-Netherlands semifinal game.
The U.S. will face the winner of that game in the World Cup Final on Sunday.
