Cristiano Ronaldo sent the sports world into a frenzy this Friday afternoon, agreeing to a deal that’ll reunite him with Manchester United.
Before he heads to Old Trafford for the next chapter of his career, Ronaldo went on Instagram to thank Juventus and its fans for all their support since 2018.
“Today I depart from an amazing club, the biggest in Italy and surely one of the biggest in all of Europe,” Ronaldo wrote. “I gave my heart and soul for Juventus and I’ll always love the city of Turin until my final days. The ‘tiffosi bianconeri’ always respected me and I tried to thank that respect by fighting for them in every game, every season, every competition. In the end, we can all look back and realize that we achieved great things, not all that we wanted, but still, we wrote a pretty beautiful story together.”
In three seasons with Juventus, Ronaldo scored 81 goals in 98 appearances. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner hasn’t really shown any sign of slowing down despite being 36 years old.
Juventus fans are obviously upset that Ronaldo is leaving their club, but the rest of the world seems very excited about his return to Manchester United.
Earlier this week, Manchester City was considered the favorite to land Ronaldo. Manchester United seemingly came out nowhere to win the sweepstakes.
The official terms of Ronaldo’s contract with Manchester United aren’t out yet. He’s expected to sign a two-year deal with the club that includes incentives.
