Liverpool goalkeeper Adrián was the hero for his club on Wednesday, but his heroic performance didn't carry over into the next match.
Earlier this week, Adrián made the game-winning save in penalty shootouts against Chelsea. His save helped Liverpool capture the UEFA Super Cup.
With the Super Cup over, Liverpool shifted its focus over to the Premier League. It currently sits tied at first place with Arsenal in the league standings.
Although Liverpool got off to a great start on Saturday against Southampton, Adrián made a costly mistake for his club.
In the 83rd minute, Adrián went to clear the ball but in the process gave it up to Southhampton's Danny Ings.
The Southampton easily booted the ball into the back of the net, cutting Liverpool's lead down to one goal in the process.

Coming into this weekend, there were concerns that Adrián wouldn't be able to play. The 32-year-old goalkeeper was dealing with a swollen ankle, which he suffered in a collision with a fan on Wednesday.
Fortunately for Adrián, Liverpool prevailed in this nail-biting match against Liverpool. Nonetheless, it's a brutal mistake for a goalkeeper of his caliber.
Adrián needs to avoid errors of this magnitude next week, when Liverpool plays against Arsenal.
