Fresh off their fourth-ever World Cup title and second in a row, the USWNT touched down on American soil in New Jersey this afternoon.
When the team’s plane arrived, it got a special greeting: a water cannon salute from a pair of fire trucks. More info on the tradition can be found here.
Below is a photo of the cannons in action.

The team is set to be honored with a ticker tape parade in New York City’s “Canyon of Heroes” in Manhattan on Wednesday. It will be the first ticker tape celebration since 2015 when the USWNT was feted following another World Cup win.
The parade is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. ET Wednesday morning. A ceremony at City Hall will follow at 10:30 a.m.
If it is anything like past ticker tape parades, it should be a hell of a party.
