On Wednesday morning, the United States Women’s National Team took to the New York City streets to celebrate their Women’s World cup victory.
After taking down the Netherlands by a final score of 2-0, the USWNT claimed back-to-back Women’s World Cups – becoming the first team since Germany (2003, 2007) to pull off that feat.
Unquestionably the biggest star of the tournament was midfielder Megan Rapinoe. She took home the Golden Boot as the tournament’s top scorer and notched the game-winning goal against Holland in the final.
However, despite her stardom, one very important person has no idea how to pronounce her name.
U.S. Soccer Federation president Carlos Cordeiro mispronounced Rapinoe’s name when introducing her at the parade.
Check it out.

That’s not a good look when the federation is in a labor dispute with the team.
Rapinoe was the most polarizing player in the tournament. Her comments about President Donald Trump, and subsequent exchange on Twitter, made her arguably the most-popular soccer player in the United States.
And just like the exchange with Trump, Rapinoe walked off the incorrect comments from Cordeiro.
She started the parade with a glass of champagne in hand and it doesn’t look like anything will bother her today.
