For the newest edition of the NBA 2K series, publisher 2K Sports has changed things up a bit with their cover athlete. WNBA superstar Candace Parker will be featured on the cover of NBA 2K22.
Parker will be featured on a special GameStop-exclusive release of the NBA video game. Luka Doncic will be the cover athlete for the worldwide release, while NBA legends Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Dirk Nowitzki will join Kevin Durant on a special 75th anniversary edition of the game.
Taking to Twitter, Parker said she was “extremely proud and humbled” to be featured on the cover. She said she hopes to be the first of many female athletes to grace the cover in the future.
“Extremely proud and humbled to be the first female cover athlete in the history of @NBA2K,” Parker wrote. “I’m honored to work with a company that’s investing in women and betting on us to succeed. I’m hopeful there will be many more badass females to follow.”

A 13-year WNBA veteran, Candace Parker is one of the most decorated basketball players in the league’s history. She is a six-time WNBA All-Star, two-time MVP, nine-time All-WNBA selection, and won the WNBA title with the Los Angeles Sparks in 2016.
At the international level, she owns two Olympic gold medals with Team USA and won numerous titles playing for UMMC Ekaterinburg in Russia.
Few WNBA players have accomplished as much as Parker has. Now the wider worlds of both basketball and video games will see her rewarded for it.
