In the wake of his son Lonzo getting traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the New Orleans Pelicans this past weekend, LaVar Ball has been getting a lot of air time again. It didn't take long for him to make headlines again for a negative reason.
Ball joined First Take with Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman on Monday morning to discuss his son's career. It appears that in the process, he made an inappropriate comment to the show's host Molly Qerim.
Qerim, attempting to change the subject at one point, asked Ball if she could "switch gears" onto a new topic. Ball responded that Qerim could "switch gears" with him "any time."
The segment is going viral. Many in sports media are praising Qerim for the way she handled it. They're also trashing Ball - and ESPN for allowing him to come on-air again.
Qerim even joked after the segment that if there's anyone who should call HR today, it'd be her.
This is the second time Ball has been criticized for the way he's spoken to a woman. Last year, he got in a spat with FOX Sports' Kristine Leahy after he told her to stay in "her lane."
Unfortunately, until Ball's sons are out of the NBA, he's going to have some kind of platform. Let's just hope the biggest networks stop making it larger than it needs to be.
