As a sideline reporter and analyst for NBA on TNT, NBATV, the Pac-12 Network and other outlets, Ros Gold-Onwude has been on the rise in sports media the last few years.

The 32-year-old Queens, N.Y. native will take another major step this week when she begins her new role as a fill-in host on ESPN's First Take.

Gold-Onwude will be stepping in for usual host Molly Qerim. She announced the news this afternoon.

"Geek to join this huge platform w/Stephen A & Ma while filling in for the fabulous Molly Qerim!" Gold-Onwude wrote on Twitter. "1st show is tomorrow (Thurs)."

It was recently reported that Turner Sports was not renewing its contract with Gold-Onwude, making her a media free agent.

Judging by today's news, she's landed on her feet.

Keep an eye on this former Stanford basketball star. It will be interesting if she begins to carve out other roles for herself at ESPN or elsewhere.
