It wouldn’t be a proper NFL season without First Take commentator Stephen A. Smith forgetting who’s on which teams. His latest gaffe on today’s show involves his analysis of the Dallas Cowboys offense.
While complimenting first-year Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, he called Moore “clearly an upgrade over Chan Gailey.” There’s only one problem: Chan Gailey wasn’t Dallas’ offensive coordinator last year. Scott Linehan was.
Not only has Gailey been retired since 2016, he has not even coached for the Cowboys since 1999.
In fact, Gailey never even served as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator. He was their head coach from 1998 to 1999, and that’s it.
Granted, Stephen A. Smith is one of the most vocal Cowboys-haters in the world, so he probably doesn’t keep up with who most of the coaches are and when.
Stephen A Smith said on Monday's episode of @FirstTake that Kellen Moore was "clearly" an upgrade at offensive coordinator for the Cowboys over Chan Gailey.

It’s not the first time Stephen A.’s made a mistake like that. And it’s not even the first time in the last 12 months.
Last December, Stephen A. butchered his analysis of the Los Angeles Chargers with no fewer than four wrong statements about the team.
He later apologized for the mistake, but not before Tedy Bruschi’s on-screen reaction went viral.
But we still love you Stephen A. Keep up the great work!
