San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan didn't take very long to respond to the report about himself and general manager John Lynch.

Shanahan, who's entering his third season leading the 49ers, called the report "complete bulls--t" in a text message to NBC Sports Bay Area.

Coach Kyle Shanahan reacted forcefully Tuesday to a report of friction between him and general manager John Lynch.

“Complete bulls---t,” Shanahan responded via text to NBC Sports Bay Area when asked about the report.

Bleacher Report's Matt Miller had reported earlier in the week that word out of San Francisco indicated that there could be friction between the 49ers' head coach and general manager.

"According to sources in the team's scouting and coaching staff, the two aren't in lock step as far as the vision of the offseason and the future of the franchise. The coach, Shanahan, wants to scheme and develop players while not being bothered with the player evaluation process, but more and more he finds himself involved while not trusting the decision-making of Lynch—a former media analyst after his Hall of Fame playing days but not someone with a scouting background," he reported.

Both Shanahan and Lynch signed six-year contracts back in 2017 and are expected to continue working together.

The 49ers are expected to get back into NFC West contention this year, assuming quarterback Jimmy Garropolo is healthy.
