Antonio Brown remains interested in getting back in the NFL following his release by the New England Patriots. If his legal situation clears up sometime soon, perhaps he'll get another chance.

CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora reported on Sunday morning that interest in Brown could pick up when (or if) that happens.

The trade deadline will pass at the end of the month and, after that, teams will lack options when it comes to making upgrades at the position.

Five contending NFL teams have been named potential suitors for Brown.

"Once the deadline passes, expect interest to pick up for Brown, who, despite still being the focus of a league investigation into the various allegations against him, made an immediate impact in the one game he played in New England and would be a substantial upgrade over many starting receivers, assuming he manages to actually stay on a roster," La Canfora wrote Sunday. "Besides the Patriots, the 49ers, Saints, Ravens, Colts and Packers are contending teams that could benefit by the addition of another pass catching option."

Brown has been tweeting throughout his absence from the NFL. It seems to be clear that he wants back in the league.

Brown was productive during his brief stint with the Patriots and, if there are no off-the-field issues (something that's fair to doubt considering everything that has happened) he could provide a boost to a contending team.

Stay tuned.
