Trade speculation has been swirling for Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green heading into the league’s trade deadline.
Green, 31, might no longer be a truly elite NFL wide receiver, though he’s still extremely good. The Bengals, meanwhile, are not.
Cincinnati is 0-5 and going nowhere fast. Trading Green might be the best move for the franchise at this point.
Green, who’s spent his entire career in Cincinnati, says he’s “prepared” for anything, though he hasn’t heard about any trades.
“I tell everybody I haven’t heard anything,” Green said. “I don’t fantasize about anything like that. I’m just trying to get healthy and go from there. I’m prepared for anything. A trade’s not going to change who I am. I’m still going to play. I’m still going to be A.J.”
Green has been dealing with an ankle injury since July. He’s already been ruled out this week, but is expected to return soon.
The NFL’s trade deadline is at the end of the month.
