Al Horford was expected by most within the NBA to opt out of the final year of his contract in Boston and re-sign with the Celtics for more years but less average annual value. That's not what's happening, though.

The All-Star big man will not be returning to the Celtics in 2019-20. Instead, he's reportedly been guaranteed a four-year, $100 million-plus contract offer from someone else.

To this point, that team has yet to be identified, however there's been some speculation.

The Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers and New Orleans Pelicans, among others, have all been mentioned as potential landing spots for Horford.

A new "mystery team" might have emerged, too.

NBA insider John Gambadoro reports that the "mystery team" might actually be the Philadelphia 76ers.

"Have heard the mystery team that is willing to offer Al Horford over 100 million may very well be the 76ers," he reports.

The Sixers are one of the most-intriguing teams of free agency, with decisions needing to be made on both Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris.

If Philadelphia decides to not re-sign one of those players, it's possible Philadelphia could have enough cap space to land Horford.
