United States women's national team stars Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe appeared on FOX Sports' 1 World Cup show this afternoon to discuss their squad's hot start to the tournament.

The Americans got off to a brilliant start in the World Cup, shellacking Thailand, 13-0, in their opening game.

The on-field dominance wasn't the only storyline from the match, of course. There were some people who took issue with USA's celebrations after many of their late goals.

Morgan and Rapinoe both addressed some of the criticism during their appearance on FOX.

"We have the upmost respect for everyone we play," Rapinoe said. "I feel like we were pent up. That sort of explosion of joy was very genuine for us."

Rapinoe is referencing the fact that the Americans didn't play until Tuesday afternoon, when the World Cup started on Friday. They had the longest wait of anyone in the World Cup.

Morgan echoed that, while adding that it's understandable for someone to take issue with something from the match just because of how much coverage it received.

"Of course, someone is going to find something to talk negatively about," she said.

The United States women's national team will be back in action on Sunday for their second match of the World Cup.

USA and Chile are set to kick off at noon E.T.

The game will be on FOX.
