An ESPN Insider Has A Major Update On Manny Machado Trade

By all accounts, the Manny Machado trade sweepstakes will be ending soon. The Baltimore Orioles will be trading their star sooner rather than later.

Most reports have indicated Machado will be traded before the regular season restarts on Friday. Tonight's All-Star Game should be his last appearance in a Baltimore uniform.

Earlier this morning, Fancred's Jon Heyman reported that the Dodgers are the leaders for Machado. LA looks poised to land him unless another team swoops in.

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Orioles already have the structure of a trade in place and are just going through the paperwork to cross their t's and dot their i's.

If this is the case, it seems likely that the Dodgers will be the ones to get the star shortstop.

Machado would fill the void at shortstop in LA, which was opened up when Corey Seager was lost for the season with an arm injury. Acquiring him would likely lead to some rejiggering of the lineup and defensive alignments.

The 26-year-old Machado is slashing .315/.387/.575 this season with 24 home runs and 65 RBI in 96 games. He has played his entire career in Baltimore so far.
