The sports world has been rocked tonight by the news that Indianapolis Colts star quarterback Andrew Luck is retiring at age 29.
In the midst of dealing with yet another injury, Luck is reportedly “worn down” according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. In seven years in the NFL, Luck has made four Pro Bowls but also dealt with various injuries and missed the entire 2017 season.
Luck still had three years remaining on his five-year, $122 million contract. He’s leaving a lot of money on the table.
According to Darren Rovell, Luck is passing up on $58 million.
In retiring, I have Andrew Luck giving up $58.1 million in future money.

Luck’s retirement news is as shocking as any announcement we’ve seen in sports in a long time. This is a player who is one of the best in the game when healthy and on the field.
He’s been sidelined by a mysterious leg ailment this summer though, and hasn’t even been able to practice. With Luck stepping away, Jacoby Brissett is officially Indianapolis’ starting quarterback.
