After wearing No. 1 in practice on Wednesday, Antonio Brown has chosen a new jersey number with the Patriots. The All-Pro wideout won’t be wearing No. 84, since it belongs to Ben Watson.
Brown’s status for this week is up in the air due to the latest allegations involving him.
On Tuesday, a lawsuit emerged accusing the star wide receiver of sexual assault. Britney Taylor, a former gymnast at LSU, accused Brown of “forcibly” raping her in early 2018.
Bill Belichick answered a few questions regarding Brown’s current situation during his press conference. However, the Patriots haven’t announced if he’ll play on Sunday against the Dolphins.
If Brown is on the field this weekend, he’ll be wearing No. 17.

New England received criticism for signing Brown due to the controversy surrounding him. When he’s on the field, though, the former sixth-round pick is one of the best in the NFL.
Even if the Patriots don’t have Brown for Week 2 against the Dolphins, the defending champions should be just fine. Tom Brady still has reliable options to throw to in Josh Gordon and Julian Edelman.
The Patriots should have an update on Brown later this week.
