Atlanta Hawks Reportedly Discussing Major NBA Trade

The Atlanta Hawks have reportedly opened up preliminary trade discussions involving sixth-year forward John Collins, per NBA insider Shams Charania.

The Suns have been named as a possible frontrunner given their draft capital and need for depth at the forward position.

Collins is off to the slowest start of his NBA career since his rookie year. He's averaging 12.6 points, 7.7 rebounds per game and a career-low 22.7% from behind the arc. Still, there's no question he has the capability to produce at a high level.

With Clint Capela, De’Andre Hunter and Onyeka Okungwu on the Atlanta roster, the Hawks can afford to part ways with Collins in exchange for depth at the guard position.

Collins, 25, is in the second year of a five-year, $125 million contract with the Hawks.

The NBA trade deadline hits on February 9.
