Baker Mayfield Is Upset With A Publication For Disrespecting Kyler Murray
Baker Mayfield has moved on to the NFL after being selected No. 1 overall by the Cleveland Browns this past April. But he hasn't forgotten his roots - and it seems like he's still keeping tabs on all-things Oklahoma football as he transitions to the pros.
Thursday, Mayfield took to Instagram to show a bit of displeasure with a recent article meant to preview the Big 12 this season. SportsDay, a vertical of Dallas News, posted an article about Phil Steele's quarterback rankings heading into the season.
Steele has Texas, SMU and Texas A&M all ranked ahead of Oklahoma when it comes to quarterback play. Mayfield, predictably, isn't buying it.
Oklahoma, this season, will be quarterbacked by Kyler Murray, who transferred in from Texas A&M a year ago. Murray, who is also a star baseball player, will essentially be starting for the program for one season before he tries his hand with the Oakland Athletics.
Mayfield took to Instagram with a warning: "Y'all better pay your respect to K1 @kylermurray."
Murray will have big shoes to fill, to be sure. Mayfield, in his senior season, won the Heisman Trophy and led Oklahoma to a Big 12 title and a College Football Playoff berth.
Oklahoma, still, seems to be the favorite in the Big 12 this coming season. We're just over a month away from it all kicking off.
