Former Kansas forward Billy Preston has signed with an NBA team. The former 5-star recruit has reportedly signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to Shams Charania.

The news comes several months after Preston signed with Bosnian professional basketball team BC Igokea. Preston is a former 5-star recruit who signed with Kansas over Arizona, Indiana, and Syracuse, among others.

He never made his Kansas debut, and decided to leave the program in January. Preston wanted the opportunity to play basketball before making a run at the NBA draft.

Although he went undrafted, Preston has now landed a deal with the Cavs.

In early November 2017, Preston was reportedly involved in a single-vehicle accident - which led to the school saying it “needed a clearer financial picture specific to the vehicle." Preston's mother then alluded to the fact that her son was under NCAA investigation.

In a message to Kansas fans she revealed the NCAA was involved: "Be a fan, be supportive, be empathetic or just be quiet until the NCAA does what they have to do."

The former high school star will likely battle it out for a roster spot in the G-League.
