Usain Bolt currently holds the world record in the 100 meter dash. The track star ran a 9.58 in the 100m dash in Berlin in 2009.
That record has been beaten by an astonishing three-plus seconds, though. That’s what Britney Spears claims, anyway.
The pop star puzzlingly announced on Instagram on Wednesday that she ran the 100m dash in 5.97 seconds. Spears, 38, said she ran a “9” on her “first try.”
Spears then eventually got over her “fear” and was able to nock multiple seconds off of her time. Apparently that’s all it takes to crush a world record.
“Ran my first 5 !!!! Getting over your fear of pushing it in the beginning is key …. once I did that I hit 5 !!!!! Usually I run 6 or 7 …. my first try was 9 …. and now I did it whoop !!!!! 100 meter dash,” she wrote on Instagram.
How long do we think Spears actually ran here? 100 feet? 25 meters?
We’re going to need to see video of Britney Spears running now.
