Bronny James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, is getting ready to start his junior year of high school.
The top 2023 recruit attends Sierra Canyon in California. Bronny James is a four-star prospect and one of the top combo guards in the country, according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.
Of course, due to his name, it’s fair for some to wonder if Bronny James is deserving of the hype, or if he gets it because of who his father is.
According to one anonymous scout, Bronny James is very much deserving of his own praise.
“Bronny has been a positive surprise,” an NBA scout told Yahoo! Sports earlier this summer. “He’s shown me he’s more than a last name, he can make shots and handle the ball. He’s very even-keeled for someone who’s under the microscope.”
Bronny James is ranked the No. 6 combo guard and No. 30 overall recruit in the 2023 class, per 247Sports’ Composite Rankings.
It’s still very early on in his recruitment – and it remains possible that he will leave from high school to go to the NBA or another professional league – but most of the big-time schools are getting mentioned.
Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina and UCLA, among other schools, have all been mentioned for the 2023 recruit.
