Bubba Wallace is a Cup Series driver for 23XI Racing, but the veteran NASCAR driver made his return to the Xfinity Series on Saturday.

The NASCAR driver made his return to the Xfinity Series on Saturday, driving for Joe Gibbs' team.

Wallace had a disappointing finish, coming in 28th, though he showed some pretty brilliant flashes earlier in the race.

Fans were very encouraged.

"Hey this race was about getting practice. He looked really good out there, the results hurt but that’s not what it was about," one fan tweeted.

"He showed up today! Had car trouble but was super impressive!" another fan added.

"Bubba did amazing today! The finish does not define where he was all day today! Please let Bubba run more Xfinity races, today was really cool to see him in the top 5 in a Joe Gibbs Racing car!" one fan added.

Wallace is set to race one more time on the Xfinity Series circuit this season, but perhaps Saturday's performance will change the plans.
